PROBLEM:

Rainwater flooding used to cause a lot of problems to residents of Triq il-Kappella ta' Santa Marija at Maghtab, with water levels rising as high as the residents thresholds and impeding access to this street.

A recent construction, which blocked the natural way of storm water to Wied Ta' Kieli, aggravated this problem further and caused flooding in a number of cultivated fields.

SOLUTION:

A culvert, 130m in length and 400mm wide, was constructed. This culvert was redirected to another valley between Trejqet il-Kampanjol and Triq Santa Marija, thus allow for the free flow of water.

Preliminary studies and plans were drawn up by the Storm Water Unit whilst the works were executed by tender.
